This one goes out to my local peeps! Where you at?! Haha.

I’m excited to announce I’ll be doing a bike clinic for the folks putting on the Seal Beach Triathlon. The clinic is 8-10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6 at Kings Bicycle Store (1190 Pacific Coast Hwy., Seal Beach). I’ll be going over some triathlon-specific bike info, doing a little Q&A, and then leading a 10-mile bike ride on the triathlon course. There will also be guys from the bike shop who will talk maintenance and whatnot. If you’re a newbie, veteran or somewhere in between, I encourage you to come out!

Register for the bike clinic by clicking here. (Free, of course.)

They have another clinic on Saturday, Oct. 13 that should be pretty too cool, as you can see in the above flier. But I’ll be covering the Ironman World Championships that day. Yup, enduring that Kona heat…

Then on Saturday, Oct. 20 I will race in the inaugural Seal Beach Tri. Sprints aren’t really my specialty/focus, but they hurt and I love them. Not to mention, I couldn’t pass up a fun, local race! It’s also a pretty cheap triathlon ($65-$75), a rarity these days in the tri world. But that’s what the organizers of this race are all about… I talked to the RD, and he is a Seal Beach resident who just loves his community and the sport of triathlon and wanted to start this race just to provide a fun opportunity for locals. It sounds like there will be quite a few newbies out there, and I think it will be a great, mellow course for a first-timer.The course should be flat and fast — a 1/2-mile swim, 10-mile bike and 2.1-mile beach (sand) run. Can’t wait!

There is another reason why I am doing Seal Beach on Saturday. The Newport Beach Triathlon is on Sunday, Oct. 21. Doesn’t really make logical sense, I know, but it does to me because I got this crazy idea to do a double sprint triathlon challenge. I have the itch to do a little racing, but nothing too taxing on the body at this time of year, and it just so happens these races are on back-to-back days and super close to where I live. I’ve done the Newport Sprint two times, and both times I’ve been 1st age group and top-10 female overall. I love the course, know it well and will be looking to hammer it out there again.

Contact me if you think you’ll be at the bike clinic or either of these triathlons; I would love to see you!
